Coto Note 1.2.5 Release and the MIME Type issue with Storage Access Framework

Yesterday, I was released Coto Note version 1.2.5. By this update, you can only open the file that has Coto Note MIME Type. On the other hand, you can not open the file that does not have Coto Note MIME type.

Coto Note app use Storage Access Framework with file management, but in some cases MIME type filter function might not work properly. For example, you save your coto note file into local storage, you could not open it again. If you encounter such a problem, please use the option Coto Note MIME Type Filtering in the settings.

The case of saving under Google Drive, MIME Type filter works well for my testing. I hope this update is useful.

Conclusion

• In the version 1.2.5, Coto Note can only open the file that has Coto Note Mime Type.
• If you do not like this behavior, please revert using the option item Coto Note MIME Type Filtering in the settings.

昨日 Coto Note version 1.2.5 をリリースしました。 長年気になっていた ファイルを開くときに Coto Note ファイル以外も選択できてしまう問題を修正しました。 修正内容はシンプルで ファイルを開くときに MIME Type を Coto Note MIME Type だけに限定する設定をしただけです。

今までこれを任意の MIME Type を指定してファイルオープンダイアログを起動していたため、 Coto Note で開けるファイル以外も選択できるようになっていました。

今までこのようにしてきたのは、理由があります。 Coto Note では ファイル管理機能として Storage Access Framework を使っているのですが、 ローカルストレージにファイルを保存した場合、MIME Type が意図通り機能しないケースがあるようです。 そのため、 もしファイルオープン時に Coto Note MIME Type だけに限定してしまうと 保存したファイルを開くことができなくなるという致命的な問題があったからです。
保存先が Google Drive の場合は、このような問題はないと思います。 なお、設定画面で、この制約は解除することができます。

まとめ

• Version 1.2.5 では ファイルを開くときに MIME Type を Coto Note MIME Type ファイルのみに限定しました。
• もし、ファイルオープン時にファイルが選択できない場合には、設定画面の Coto Note MIME Type Filtering 項目にチェックして、この制約を解除してください。
